End-to-End names charities to benefit from 2023 event
RG
Saturday, February 18, 2023

Five charities will benefit from money raised at this year’s Convex End-to-End, it was announced today.

Funds raised will go to the Bermuda Zoological Society’s Microforest Project, Gina Spence Productions, the Eliza DoLittle Society, the Skills Development Programme and Vision Bermuda.

Anne Mello, the chairwoman of the Bermuda End-to-End Charitable Trust, said: “The charities selected are all well known, reputable and do great work in our community. Since its inception, the End-to-End Charitable Trust has donated a total of $6.5 million to local charities.

“The End-to-End would simply not be possible without the support of its sponsors. We are more than delighted to have Convex on board for a second year in a row as lead sponsor.

“We are also thankful for the continued support from our Platinum Sponsors, Deloitte and Butterfield.”

Stephen Catlin, the chairman of Convex, said: “I thoroughly enjoyed last year's island-wide event and it is a tremendous privilege for Convex to continue to be involved.

“The Bermuda End-to End Charitable Trust has organised a truly extraordinary occasion for the last 36 years, raising essential funds in support of worthwhile charities and further enriching the island.

“This year’s chosen charities perform vital work and through events like this they will be able continue their efforts and Convex can continue to demonstrate its enduring commitment to Bermuda, its causes and the wider community.”

The five charities

The Bermuda Zoological Society’s Microforest project helps to establish ecosystem restoration along the railway trail.

Gina Spence Productions provides grief and loss support for children affected by gang and gun violence.

The Eliza DoLittle Society provides healthy and nutritious solutions to the food insecure with the aim of enhancing their quality of life.

The Skills Development Programme is a training and development opportunity for young people aged 19 to 25 interested in horticulture and landscaping.

Vision Bermuda is dedicated to empowering people who are blind or vision impaired how to learn to live well with vision loss.

The 36th annual Convex End-to-End will take place on Saturday, May 6. The full End-to-End event is 24.1 miles, the Middle-to-End is 14 miles and the End-to-End Fun Walk, sponsored by Athene, is three miles and suitable for families with small children.

Participants can walk, run, cycle, row or sail – in a new category for Optimist Youth sailors.
