following surgery to remove a fishing hook, with a group gathering today [Feb 8] at the Bermuda Aquarium and Zoo [BAMZ] to make the announcement, while also educating the public on how injured sea turtles should be handled.

The group included Dr. Ian Walker, Jennifer Gray of the Bermuda Turtle Project, Glenn Jones of the Bermuda Tourism Authority, and 7-year-old Aerial Williams, the young girl that caught the turtle – who she has named Bridget.

Aerial caught the turtle during the BTA Rediscover the Rail Trail event last year, and now that the turtle has been rehabilitated, it will be released back into the wild soon, with Dr Walker noting that the entire team at BAMZ did an excellent job at helping the turtle recuperate, and also thanking Aerial for her part in making sure the turtle was brought to the Aquarium.
