Centre on Philanthropy executive director Elaine Butterfield
expressed gratitude for the donation from Global Indemnity Re.

Reinsurance company Global Indemnity Re has donated $100,000 to ten local charities and non-profit organisations.

The company gave awards of $10,000 each to the Bermuda Zoological Society, Masterworks, Bermuda Insurance Institute, Bermuda Foundation for Insurance Studies, WindReach Bermuda, the Chewstick Foundation, Family Centre, The Coalition for Protection of Children, Greenrock and The Centre on Philanthropy.

Elaine Butterfield, executive director for the Centre on Philanthropy, said: “The Centre on Philanthropy is thrilled that Global Indemnity Re has made such a generous donation to ourselves and nine of our non-profit members.

“Without such support, non-profit organisations would be hard-pressed to meet the growing demand for their programmes and services, which address critical needs in our community.

“This contribution of $100,000 to the third sector will have a considerable impact on the lives of the constituents served by every one of the following charities each receiving a $10,000 donation.

“Global Indemnity Re, who are celebrating ten years of doing business in Bermuda, are to be commended for their corporate social responsibility in our community, evidenced by impactful contributions to the community like these. We wish to congratulate Global Indemnity Re for all of their accomplishments over the past ten years and sincerely wish them many more years of success.”

Marie-Joelle Chapleau, chief operating officer for Global Indemnity Re, added: “Global Indemnity Re is pleased to celebrate our ten-year anniversary by being able to help out ten very deserving non-profit organisations.

“These charities, as with many others, help and support the entire Bermuda community and we feel that it is our responsibility as a good corporate citizen to help them in these very challenging times.”
