Another successful event: a 2015 file photograph of Zoom around Harrington Sound (File photograph)

The Zoom Around the Sound event has raised more than $15,000 for educational and conservation programmes.

The walk, run, ride event, which this year attracted 600 participants, will assist with programmes run by the Bermuda Zoological Society run out of the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo.

Funds raised will go towards such programmes as the School’s Programme designed to enhance the school curriculum especially in areas such as science.

Also standing to benefit is the volunteer programme, which includes a special conservation project taking place at Trunk Island.

This year’s event included 35 participants from a visiting rugby team.

Joanne Chisnall, volunteer coordinator for BZS, said: “It was a very successful event again.

“It is now in its 15th year and people look forward to it — we have people taking part year after year.”

Entrants began their course at BAMZ and headed counter clockwise around Harrington Sound Road from North Shore Road, Middle Road, Harrington Sound Road, Trinity Church Road, North Shore Road and back to BAMZ.
