Junior Volunteer Programme
Get hands-on experience, learn behind the scenes, and make a difference!
The BZS Junior Volunteer (JV) Programme is a year-long opportunity for high school students aged 14 to 17 who are passionate about animals, marine science, conservation and environmental education. This programme gives participants a chance to see what goes on behind the scenes at BAMZ and BZS, while developing skills and experience in real-world conservation and education work.
Junior Volunteers have a unique opportunity to be part of one of our most rewarding programmes. If you’re ready to learn, explore and contribute to Bermuda’s environment, start your journey here!
Programme Highlights:
- Year-long commitment: Runs from October to June, with weekly 4-hour sessions on either Saturday or Sunday mornings.
- Rotations: Junior Volunteers rotate through three areas: Zoo, Aquarium, and Education and gain hands-on experience in animal care, exhibit preparation and supporting educational programmes like Science Club and Wild Encounters.
- Special events and field trips: Participate in seasonal activities such as Santa Comes to BZS, BAMZ After Dark, community conservation projects and the annual Swim Around the Sound.
- Learning opportunities: Work alongside professional staff and gain valuable insights into zoology, marine sciences and environmental conservation Programme Requirements:
