Junior Volunteer Application

Complete and submit a Junior Volunteer application online.

Designed for high school students aged 14-17 desiring more than just occasional volunteer work, participants in the Junior Volunteer Programme must commit to one morning every week (Saturday or Sunday 8:30 am-noon) for the entire school year (October-June).

Our JVs learn about animal care and exhibit maintenance, and help educate visitors to BAMZ. Work includes feeding animals, cleaning exhibits, collecting specimens, and talking to visitors. Participants enjoy meeting peers from other schools and going on field trips to nature reserves and marine parks. They also work towards SCUBA certification and fundraising for an overseas environmental education trip.

This is an ideal programme for teens involved in award schemes, or for those who require community service hours.

Teenagers are invited to submit their applications by mid-September. Short-listed students will then be interviewed, and the programme begins in early October.

We cannot accept applications from students under 14 years of age.

For more information, contact the BZS Youth Programme Coordinator at 293-2727 ext. 2133 or emailĀ activites.bzs@gov.bm.

Completed forms may be emailed to the Junior Volunteer Programme Coordinator atĀ activities.bzs@gov.bm.

Forms are also available at the BAMZ reception, and may be faxed to BZS at 293-4800, dropped off at the front desk of the Aquarium by the designated date, or mailed to:

APPLICANT RESPONSIBILIES: I understand I am required to volunteer one morning every weekend for a full school year. Some occasional help in the afternoon and/or on the other weekend day may be needed from time to time. Help would also be needed during some breaks for children's activities, mostly Christmas and Easter break. There will be occasional fundraising events as well throughout the year. I agree I will be responsible to make up any hours I miss, in order to complete the programme.
